Stretching to the west of Alice Springs and the Finke River region to the south, the West Mac Donnell ranges holds some of the most spectacular scenery. The East Mac Donnell ranges stretching to the east of Alice Springs, is the dream time birthplace of the mountain range. The beauty of sites like, Jessie Gap, Corroboree Rock, Trephina Gorge and N'Dhala Gorge makes a trip to the East Mac Donnell's more than worthwhile.
It was only after the second World War, that the tourist development of Alice Springs began. Thereby transforming the dusty outback settlement in to a hub of restaurants, Alice Springs hotels and caravan parks, entertainments of all kinds. Alice Springs is Australia's art capital, home to many local and Aboriginal art galleries.
